HIAS Young Leaders
Founded by Jewish immigrants, refugees, and their descendants, HIAS Young Leaders is a unique national community of young professionals and graduate students. Through advocacy, education, community service, and fundraising initiatives, young people around the country generate new and creative ways to continue HIAS' longstanding mission of rescue, resettlement, and reunification of Jewish and other immigrants.
What can YOU do to help?
Serve refugees and immigrants in your area: HIAS works with affiliate agencies nationwide to provide direct support to refugees and immigrants. Depending on location, these services include ESL and vocational training, cultural immersion, and special programming for women and children.
Share your family's migration story: Through contributing photos, anecdotes, and stories to HIAS' myStory site, you can honor family members who journeyed to this country, as well as add new insights for future generations.
Support HIAS' advocacy efforts: Engage in our grassroots campaigns by joining our advocacy listserv, participating in the Annual Advocacy Mission, and using our action alerts to urge Congress to act on important legislation facing immigrants and refugees.
Educate your community: Teach others about critical issues facing immigrants and refugees, as well as about the contributions of immigrants and refugees to our society. Host an event such as a panel or lecture, a roundtable discussion, a film/book series, or a cultural exchange.
Raise money for immigrants and refugees in need: By contributing to HIAS’ programs, you can help to ensure that HIAS always will be there, m’dor l’dor, from generation to generation, to rescue and resettle people suffering persecution or living in peril and reunite them with their families in a safe haven. Through online campaigns, individual appeals, corporate matching, planned giving, and events—such as parties, happy hours, and benefits—HIAS Young Leaders have raised significant funds to help support HIAS’ operations around the world.
