DC -- Happy Hour for HIAS Ecuador
On November 14th, HIAS Young Leaders raised funds to support HIAS' operations Ecuador. The fundraiser brought in over $1400 to support psychosocial and other vital services for Colombian refugees in Ecuador.
DC -- Jewnity 2012
On July 22nd, HIAS and other Jewish organizations in the Greater Washington area gathered at the Eastern Market North Hall for Jewnity 2012. The event included a DJ, games, and raffle prizes, and brought over a dozen Jewish organizations together to showcase the unity of our great community.
DC -- HIAS Advocacy Mission
On March 11-13, 2012, Young Leaders joined HIAS' Board of Directors and staff members in Washington, DC to advocate on behalf of refugees and immigrants and promote awareness about why these issues are of particular concern to the Jewish community.
NY -- Open House @ HIAS Offices
On Tuesday, March 6th, Young Leaders gathered at the HIAS offices in New York to learn more about HIAS' work and meet HIAS staff members. Participants also were able to hear about and register for upcoming events with HIAS and our community partners.
DC -- Red, White, and Brew Fundraiser @Mr. Henry’s
On Wednesday, March 24th, Young Leaders raised funds for the students of the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) who are in the process of studying for their U.S. citizenship exams. The event featured hors d’oeuvres, raffle prizes, and trivia questions (including some taken from the actual U.S. Citizenship Exam).
NY -- Happy Hour for HIAS Kenya
On Thursday March 25, Young Leaders raised funds and awareness about HIAS’ programs in Kenya that aid the most vulnerable refugee populations of East Africa.
LA -- HIAS Hanukkah Party
On Wednesday, December 16th, Los Angeles Young Leaders gathered at the Stone Rose Lounge in Beverly Hills to celebrate Hanukkah over food and drinks, as well as to learn about how to get involved with HIAS’ initiatives locally, nationally, and internationally.
NY-- Rooftop Happy Hour @ Red Sky
On August 13, New York Young Leaders raised money to complete their HIAS Israel Scholarship Award helping recent immigrants in Israel to pursue advanced education.
DC-- Chill and Grill BBQ
On Thursday, July 23rd, Young Leaders gathered at a private rooftop in DC to raise money and awareness for HIAS' Israel Scholarship program, helping immigrants realize their dreams of a college education and a better life. The annual rooftop BBQ featured kosher dinner and drinks, Israeli music, and great raffle prizes.
NY-- Dance for Darfur Benefit @ Branch
On Thursday June 4, Young Leaders gathered to raise money and awareness for HIAS' trauma counseling and community development programs helping Darfurian refugees in Chad. The event featured delicious hors d'oeuvres, great raffle prizes, and DJ Joro Boro spinning a mix of music from around the world.
NY-- Get Your Gelt On Hanukkah Party @Katra
On Thursday December 11, HIAS Young Leaders sipped Hanukkah cocktails, ate donuts and chocolate gelt while raising money to support the HIAS Scholarship Program.
DC-- Feed the Need
This event, which took place at Busboys and Poets, and featured a full bar, live music, great raffle prices, as well as speakers from Friends of Congo, Enough Project, and HIAS-Kenya, raised over $2000 directly benefit HIAS programs in Kenya and Uganda that serve Congolese refugees.
LA-- Into Africa
Young Leaders came together to raise funds and awareness for HIAS' Kenya program, which helps the most vulnerable refugee populations from the region. The event was held at The Artists Gallery and featured photos from the program, belly dancing and a drum circle.
